Installation of large diameter bored piling and octagonal Prestressed concrete piles into high strength basalt. Location: Banora Point, NSW Client: Abigroup Contractors, Seymour Whyte, Roads and Maritime Services NSW Alliance The Banora Point Upgrade was a major Design and Construct Alliance which featured complex, largely structural construction over one of the highest trafficked sections of the Pacific Highway in the Far North Coast region of New South Wales, just south of the Queensland border. The project required complex inground piling to increase capacity from four lanes to six lanes over a 2.5km length, a 23m deep rock and soft soil cutting, a 330m long viaduct, seven single span bridges, one 40m temporary bridge and 19 permanent and temporary reinforced soil walls.
Installation of large diameter steel tube piles and sheet piling in the remote Northern region of Western Australia. Location: Onslow , WA Client: Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects. Located at Ashburton North, 12 kilometres west of Onslow in Western Australia, the project consists of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonnes per annum and a domestic gas plant. Keller Australia in association with its piling member companies procured, installed and tested approximately 20,000 piles on the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project located at Ashburton North, 12 kilometres from Onslow in Western Australia. Additional works included the installation of sheet piled walls
Installation of large diameter deep CFA piling into Coode Island Silt grading from soft to firm, which also contains 1-2m basalt layers. Location: Melbourne, Victoria Client: Brookfield Multiplex 80MPa concrete was utilised to account for high structural loads being applied on the piles installed in excess of 38 metres deep. Careful traffic management planning and construction methodologies were employed to ensure safe piling outcomes in a busy CBD environment.
Installation of ship loader facility constructing large diameter vertical piles and raking dolphin piles. Works included design and installation of 300t capacity falsework working platform. Location: Karara, WA Client: Laing O’Rourke This work forms part of a dedicated Shipping Berth (Berth 7) for Gindalbie Metals $2.6B Karara Mine, Port and Rail Development. The major achievement allows shipping of 16 MTPa of Iron Ore from a Panamax Vessel berth. Innovative piling techniques included driving through limestone encountered at seabed level for many of the piles.
Design, construction & testing for the “GC10” package foundation works for several conveyors and coal yard gantry crane foundation structures. Location: Gladstone, Qld Client: Abigroup Golding Joint Venture (AGJV) Works carried out under extreme time constraints to ensure project milestones were achieved and following sub trades can continue. Unexpected and unknown obstructions in the ground required constant attention to capital drilling equipment and maintenance scheduling.
