Installation of ground anchors to tie back a retaining wall as part of the installation of a drainage culvert as a result of the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade
Location: Ipswich, QLD
Client: Origin Alliance
As part of Ipswich Motorway Upgrade, Origin Alliance/Waterway Constructions (Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, Abigroup, Fulton Hogan, Seymour Whyte, Parsons Brinckerhoff and SMEC) was building a new drainage culvert along the banks of the Brisbane River. Additional support for the culvert outlet is provided by a row of 900mm diameter bored piles at the toe of the bank, with permanent ground anchors installed through each pile by Keller Ground Engineering (KGE).
Installation of Mass Soil Mixing for ground stabilisation
Location: Gladstone, QLD
Client: Queensland Alumina Ltd.
Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) is one of the largest alumina refineries in Australia, producing about 3.95Mt of alumina per year. QAL wanted to stabilise tailings material to mitigate the risk of instability or settlement if the tailings storage facility embankment was raised in the future.
Installation of micro piles and pressure grouting
Location: Dugald River, QLD
Client: Raising Australia
Keller Ground Engineering (KGE), working on behalf of Raising Australia for mining company MMG, carried out ground stabilisation to allow safe construction of four raise bore ventilation shafts at the Dugald River mine development north west of Cloncurry in north east Queensland.
Installation of a low permeability cement-bentonite cut-off-wall.
Location: Pierce Avenue, QLD
Client: Hall Contractors
Keller Ground Engineer was awarded the construct only contract for the installation of a 780 linear meter low permeability, cement - bentonite leachate cut-off wall to depths of 11.5m. The all surrounded the active landfill site at Pierce Avenue, Caloundra.
Improvement of Fill for New Apartments
Location: Airlie Beach, QLD
Client: Hutchinson Builders
A disused and backfilled stone quarry on the waterfront of Airlie Beach was chosen as the site for a new residential development. The uncontrolled and variable nature of the backfill provided challenges to the developer and builder. Keller Ground Engineering overcame these issues through the use of Dynamic Compaction treatment.
