About Keller Australia

We are Australia's leader in geotechnical solutions and are proud to be part of Keller, the world’s largest geotechnical engineering contractor. For over 60 years, we have delivered industry-leading foundations and ground improvement solutions across the building, construction, and mining sectors in Australia.

About the Role

This is not your typical design engineering role. We are looking for an experienced and well-rounded Senior Design & Estimating Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical design, commercial strategy, and project delivery.

This is a key leadership-track role with a clear pathway to become our Design & Estimating Manager in WA. You will lead from the front shaping winning tenders, supporting our operations teams, and mentoring junior engineers as you help grow our capability across the region. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a dedicated team and be part of high-profile tier 1 projects within Western Australia.

You will be responsible for

  • Lead the preparation of all tenders (both D&C and construct only), including pricing, methodology, and technical solution development

  • Develop practical, cost-effective piling (structural and geotechnical) and ground improvement designs that align with project goals and client expectations

  • Clearly communicate design intent and value to clients during the bid phase

  • Support and mentor engineering staff, fostering a strong technical and proactive culture

  • Review tender documents and propose cost-effective, practical design solutions

  • Collaborate with construction teams to ensure design compliance on site and update designs as needed

  • Work closely with site and project delivery teams to ensure designs translate effectively into construction

  • Take a lead role in business development to align designs with broader commercial strategies

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and industry partners, actively contributing to work-winning efforts

This is an opportunity to be more than a designer — you'll be a key contributor to our leadership team, helping shape the direction of our technical and commercial offering in Western Australia.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in a design and/or estimating capacity within geotechnical or piling works

  • A tertiary qualification in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • A proactive and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • A desire to step into a leadership role and make a long-term impact in the business

  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, piling systems, and ground improvement methods

  • Sound knowledge of Australian standards (e.g., AS2159, AS3600) and design software (e.g., RAPT, PIGLET, WALLAP, PLAXIS-2D)

Why work with us

  • Flexible working environment (including work from home 1 day per week)

  • A commitment to learning and development

  • Collaborative working environment

  • Contribute directly to sustainability improvements in construction

  • Mentorship program

  • A global company with knowledge sharing by experts across the globe

  • Competitive pay and benefits

  • Fair employment practices and emphasis on promoting from within

  • Above industry paid Parental Leave
